First Mother's Day and Back to Work

I noticed once we became parents, it seems like you're automatically part of a club. But a supportive one. You may not know acquaintances that are also parents very well but they know and can relate to you more. They also seem to  be more supportive. They help you with ways to save money and little tips to help things be a little more easier. Not saying being a parent is easy because it isn't, but little things that help you a long the way.

Mother's Day
Yay! I can be wished a happy mother's day now! Unfortunately, Oliver had to go back to work from paternity leave. We went to church that morning and I got flowers from church just for being the newest mom! They had a game where they were giving flowers to the newest mom, most children, etc. It was nice! I really like our church. Then we just hung out at home. The day before, Violet went on her first mall trip and I splurged on my favorite makeup brand (and purse brand). So that was my mother's day gift.

But the best gift was this little blessing. :)

Back to work

I have to say I thought it would be very hard for me to come back. I was of course a little sad and missed our mornings together. It's bittersweet. I think a big part of me was OK because Oliver works from 2pm-10pm and I work from 6am-3pm. Oliver leaves around 1:30pm and my mother in law comes to the house to watch Violet until I come home which is at 3:30pm. So only 2 hours and 4 days since Oliver is off on Fridays so it works out really well and I'm so grateful for that! We both don't have to worry and I'm comforted knowing Oliver is with her early in the day. Now when I leave early in the morning, I try to kiss her with out waking her up. :)

I've noticed that I plan ahead way more now in the mornings. Before it was just get ready, find whatever I can wear, put a lunch together and go. Now it's planned the night before just in case Violet wakes up early. Pick out an outfit (and make sure it fits), prepare your lunch ahead, get breast pump prepared with the bottles, prepare Violet's things for mother in law to watch her. Next morning is to get ready and put everything together.

When I got to work, I barely worked LOL. We just chatted and my boss brought in bagels to celebrate me coming back. She told me that I wasn't working that day because she was sending visitors over. I love where I work :).

It feels different being at work now than before. Kind of like I'm a new employee because we have been working on launching a new website and it launched while I was on leave so I have to get use to something new and I also have to ask the person questions who I trained before I left. Now I use a pump room. Also, a lot of people left and a few new people hired on. One girl that was new actually gave me an outfit for Violet. It was brand new and it was for her daughter but she grew out of it so she gave it to me. So cute!

So things are different but they are good. I just need to get back in the hang of things and I just feel very blessed to have my mother in law watch Violet for those 2 hours. I now realize how hard it must feel for those who don't have family around and have to leave their baby at a daycare. That would be so hard for anyone and I'm just so glad we have family around. Saves a lot of money to! The biggest benefit is that I get off early in the day and I get to spend a lot of time with Violet <3. We may not have our mornings during the week but we have the evenings and the weekends. :)
